چکیده

The Sesame system-level simulation framework targets efficient design space exploration of embedded multimedia systems. Even despite Sesame’s high efficiency, it would still fail to explore large parts of the design space simply because system-level simulation is too slow for this. Therefore, Sesame uses analytical performance models to provide steering to the system-level simulation, guiding it toward promising system architectures and thus pruning the design space. In this paper, we present a mechanism based on execution profiles, referred to as signatures, to calibrate these analytical models with the aim to deliver trustworthy estimates. Moreover, we also present a number of experiments in which we evaluate the accuracy of our signature-based performance models using a case study with a Motion-JPEG encoder and the Mediabench benchmark suite for performing off-line calibration of the models.

Calibration of Abstract Performance Models for System-Level Design Space Exploration

High-level performance modeling and simulation have become a key ingredient of system-level design as they facilitate early architectural design space exploration. An important precondition for such highlevel modeling and simulation methods is that they should yield trustworthy performance estimations. This requires validation (if possible) and calibration of the simulation models, which are tw...

Performance Analysis and Design Space Exploration of On-Chip Interconnection Networks

The advance of semiconductor technology, which has led to more than one billion transistors on a single chip, has enabled designers to integrate dozens of IP (intellectual property) blocks together with large amounts of embedded memory. These advances, along with the fact that traditional communication architectures do not scale well have led to significant changes in the architecture and desig...

gpusvcalibration: A R Package for Fast Stochastic Volatility Model Calibration Using GPUs

In this paper we describe the gpusvcalibration R package for accelerating stochastic volatility model calibration on GPUs. The package is designed for use with existing CRAN packages for optimization such as DEOptim and nloptr. Stochastic volatility models are used extensively across the capital markets for pricing and risk management of exchange traded financial options. However, there are man...
